This is one of the coolest films I have ever seen. The acting is really good, the story is well crafted, the characters are memorable and the movie is well-choreographed. It’s fine. The film overall is cute but nothing great obviously. Tom and Sonic relationship is sweet and Sonic is adorable. However, it’s not very SONIC. There are little to no references from the games or any type of media. But, I think it being fine is sort of what the movie needed because of its dire circumstances. Either way, it’s a fine watch. It is not that bad. Okay it’s not perfect, in fact far from it. However, it’s still very good for a sequel and I don’t think it gets enough credit for that. First, the CGI in a day and age where CGI really sucks, this is surprisingly good, like even 20 years later it looks good. And with Davy Jones and his crew being sea creatures, makes it very good for all the scenes that were shot on the ships and in the water and not making it look jarring. Now, the movie overall is amazing, characters are well written (Gwen is now my favorite), the animation is just beautiful (even that isn't doing it justice) and the music is great (especially the end credits song and Self Love).
