It is not that bad. Okay it’s not perfect, in fact far from it. However, it’s still very good for a sequel and I don’t think it gets enough credit for that. First, the CGI in a day and age where CGI really sucks, this is surprisingly good, like even 20 years later it looks good. And with Davy Jones and his crew being sea creatures, makes it very good for all the scenes that were shot on the ships and in the water and not making it look jarring. Then the characters, very good especially the final fight scene where if you properly analyze the fight, it is actually a good summary of what they are with so many decisions they make. The score is beautiful especially with the editing makes it very satisfying to watch (but why does Hans Zimmer act like the world is actually gonna end when Will and Elizabeth simply look at each other). Overall I highly recommend this movie and it is a film Hollywood can only dream to make now.
